Three things I love on a Thursday

Welcome to a new regular feature, where I list just three things that I am enjoying and appreciating on a Thursday. Regular features on my blog are a bit of a new thing for me and I’m going to try to do this one every fortnight. Here are three things that I am really enjoying this Thursday (I know it’s a bit late in the day for this first one but I’ve had a really busy day):

Documenting my memories
Since my birthday in February, I have been documenting my memories in the form of a folder that resembles something that is part scrapbook and part art journal. I have been taking more photos and so, to print those out and record the stories, the memories and the sights is great to create and great to look back on. I’ve been adding drawings to this folder too and hope to add more. I love looking at other artist’s journals and really hope that mine can be great to look at too. Below are a few of the more interesting spreads, which show a bit more drawing and painting, I hope to work on more spreads like these. (If you are wondering, I have covered an A5 ring binder with a Cath Kidston tea towel, it sounds weird but it works. I use page protectors from the Project life collection and cut them down to A5 size, I print the photos at home and I use watercolour paint).

Being busy
This year I’ve had the opportunity to do some really great things. I feel so lucky to have had so many things to do and in such great company. It has been really nice to spend some time with family and friends too.

Having good comments from clients
Last week, I had some really nice comments from clients on projects that I had a big part in working on. I also had some really good comments on some greeting cards I had designed 2 years ago and it has given me the drive to carry on designing those and create some new ones. It is really nice to get some recognition once in a while for my hard work.

That was fun, what are you really enjoying or appreciating this Thursday?

I love your scrapbook/art journal idea :) I keep a written journal and it’s definitely a great practice for my self and my creativity. Yours looks cooler though haha. Maybe when I fill out my moleskine I’ll start an art journal – type thing. :) Nice post, chick! Oh, and London = the best city in the world. I can’t wait for the olympics! I’ve taken a whole week off work >:)

Thank you so much Lizzie, I keep a written journal too and have written in the same journal since I was 16 (I don’t write too often in it and it’s quite a big book). I love love love your blog, I’ve become one of your big fans overnight and I can’t believe that you have only been doing it for a few months! You’re an inspiration to me doing all this with a full time job because I do the same. I agree with your comment about London too = best city! :)

I think the scrapbook that you have been collating is superb. It is a tangible, tactile, hard copy collection of memories that in the future you can look back on and recollect. In this day and age, we are all to quick to shoot and share, and not take the time to appreciate the moment.

I agree Stuart and I’ve really enjoyed doing it too. Thank you for your great comments!
